Flattery At It's Finest!

For one of our portrait assignments at school, we are required to research a photographer whose style we wish to emulate and produce a photograph similar to that style. For my photographer, I chose the talented Babak and I was looking at his hair shots in the "Beauty" tab. For this shoot, I had the very talented Kelcie McIvor** for hair and Makeup and my gorgeous cousin Ashley model for me!

PPOC Competition

In April here there is going to be a national competition for Student photographers that's going to be held in Quebec. At my school, the instructors wanted to do a "mock" Judging where they bring in three local professional photographers to judge our student entries and we would receive a mark based on how well we did. The marks were: Not accepted - 65% Accepted - 75% Merit - 85% and Excellence - 95% and they would take the highest mark you get for your images. I entered four images and to my surprise and delight received two Merit images! The other two were not accepted, but I like to focus on the Merit ;) Anyways, I though I would show the two merit images! Here they are:
The first image here was apparently bordering excellence, they just didn't like the hair light very much!

And this one received a solid merit! Now I'm hoping for similar results at the National judging! I would love to have national recognition for my photos! I'll keep you all updated :)

Decrepit Doors and Shanty Shacks

For our Fine Art class at school we recently had an assignment where we had to come up with an idea for a theme for a project and then present it to the rest of the class and the class would vote on which theme they want to photograph. This year the theme was "Doors" and could be interpreted in any way, we just have to have a door included in the photo. Yesterday I was driving around with my parents looking at property and came across this awesome little rundown house with one of the doors hanging off the side by one hinge, but unfortunately I didn't have my camera, so early this morning, I woke up and drove back to get some pictures. I'm really happy with how they turned out! I've also wanted to experiment with photoshop textures so I figured this would be a perfect opportunity to do so! Here are the results:

Ben and Donna

On February 27th this year, I was able to assist a friend and a classmate with a wedding she was shooting for one of her close friends. We had such a blast! They were such a wonderful and lively couple with great sense of humor! The men all dressed up with top hats and canes, and their wedding was just so original and said a lot about their personality! It was such a treat to be able to be there on their day and I wish them all the best!

40's fun!

First post of the blog, and I don't even have a website yet :) Oh well, I'm much more of a blogger anyways!
I had the priveledge of house sitting in Edmonton for the past month and it was such a beautiful house! So of course I had to take the opportunity to get some photos done! I did a few photo shoots using my siblings as models, and did a few self portraits as well. This was the latest shoot. My classmate and friend Karmen Meyer agreed to model for me and she was awesome! We had such a blast! I also got to work with a makeup artist that contacted me for the first time and she was super awesome! It definitely won't be the last time I enlist her aid! Anyways, I felt the image turned out just the way I wanted and love it! So here it is:
